Fresh from the dime store attic. Here is as fine an example of the first Paper Mate ball point pen as you'll find anywhere. Ink is dried out from sitting for 75 years, but I'm sure you can find a refill to fit.

We take for granted the ease and simplicity of the ballpoint pen but this is the one that set the standard. All prior attempts at the method had ink that would smear or not write smoothly. You can fall down the rabbit hole of pen lore. Lets just say this pen is a piece of stationery history.

I can't say with 100% certainty that this pen was never used, but it did come from the attic of a shuttered dime store wholesaler whose contents I bought out some years back. I have a few others of this same pen and the original cardboard retail displays that I'll be selling soon. Yes I have all 4 colors. Just more reds than anything, so I'm selling them first.
