This is an original pencil/pastel portrait of then-Governor John B. Connally of Texas, done in 1966 by artist John \"Jack\" Moranz (1900-1980). It was submitted as a contender to be the official portrait of Governor Connally, which would have hung in the Capitol building in Austin, but was not chosen. It is signed and dated bottom right by Moranz. Overall it measures approx. 18 x 24 inches and is on art board. Looks like it was framed at one time. No real damage to the piece, but it does have 4 or 5 small spots of something up by the governor\'s head, which I don\'t know what they are. They don\'t look like smudges, more like something at one time somehow got on there. I suspect they could be cleaned off, or otherwise dealt with, if one knew how to do such things. Moranz is a known artist, his specialty was portrait and western art, and this is a very nice portrait with a neat historical side story. Will be professionally packaged for shipment.
