Handsomeoriginal antique engraving of a painting by John ReubenChapin: "Gen. Kearney's Charge at the Battle of Chantilly,Va.," printed more than 150 yearsago. - The image area measures 12.6 x 19.3cm [5" x 7½"] on a larger sheet,withgenerous margins on all sides.
- It was published in Volume Two of TheGreat Civil War: A History of the Late Rebellion, byRobert Tomes, M.D., New York: Virtue & Yorston, 1865.
- Condition: It is in excellent condition,bright and clean, with norips, tears, or creases.It is printed on a heavy paper, with original tissue overlay, and isblank on the back,with no printing on the reverse side. Please see the scans and feelfree to ask any questions.
- Union General Philip Kearney, Jr., shown at the center ofthe painting, was killed when he mistakenly rode into the Confederatelines during the 1862 Battle of Chantilly,also known as the Battleof Ox Hill, in Fairfax County, Virginia.
