WONDERFUL WORK IN AN ECONOMICAL PIECE! WHIMSICAL AND FUN! BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED!!One of our favorite trips on our travels in Oaxaca is to the village of San Pedro Cajonos! Situated high in the mountains three hours from Oaxaca City, this is one of the most idyllic settings that one may ever find! Perched at the top of the mountains, with sweeping views of the surrounding canyons and distant pueblos, San Pedro Cajonos kisses the clouds and shines in its art forms. One of the most famous of San Pedro Cajonos artists, is the Blas Family of wood carvers. Their style is so unique and can be identified readily upon sight. Bright colors, and fine painting are their hallmarks. I absolutely love the Blas Family wood carvings!
Hilario\'s dragon wood carvings are simply fantastic! Full of mystical whimsy and fun, and bright and deep colors in the painting. I love the fierce face, the mutli colored tongue and tendrils coming out of the nose that calls fire to mind, the metallic accents that emphasize the eyes, the cool wings, the planted feet and long curved tail. So cool! Nicely painted and a great size, it will make an affordable addition to your collection. The piece is signed by the artist, and the head, arms, wings, tendrils and tongue are all removable for safer shipping.
