Description: Absolutelysuperb oil on canvas painted by presumablya master artist from just before or around the turn of the 20th century. Theartist created a scenein a very a surrealand dreary aftermath of battle. Blending dark and dull colors further magnify the overall somber perceptionand mood of the painting. Standinggloriouslyfront and center is what appears to be Otto Von Bismarck in his youthwith his horse in full ensembleincluding front plate pickelhaube, includinghis sabre with knot and plush trench overcoat. The Cavalrymenare seen riding to his side in the background.Ominously depicted in the background is a towereerilyfading the background. The foreground depicts various lifeless objectsscattered from the aftermath of the battle furtherillustrating the raw morofferityof battle. It appearsto be a French NapoleonicRegimental Pattern Flag pole and a French cartouche pouch which eludesto the Franco-Prussian War. Theframe although modern is extremelywell made and further addsa pleasant aestheticappearance to the painting. Canvas is housed in its original wood mount with corner wedges. Mounted with modern hardware

Condition: Good condition, does show some signs of wear including small dings/scratches and cracks. Various cracking of paint but does not look to be flaking or peeling off. Modern frame is a lovely additionand appears to fit perfectly. Looks to be a repair in the back or recanvasing but am not certain. Please ask for more photos!
