Arthur Fish was Wilde's assistant at "The Woman's World" where Wildeserved as Editor from November, 1887 to October, 1889.
Fish became acquainted with Oscar Wilde when Wilde was appointedas editor of "The Woman's World" .
He was associate editor under Wilde and often covered for Wilde as hebecame less and less focused on the job and was often absent from the office.
Fish became editor after Wilde left the magazine.
They continued their friendship over time and remained in contact.
Inscribed photographs by Wilde to friendsand associates are rarely found on the market today.The photograph appears in some copies of Hesketh Pearson's edited"Essays by Oscar Wilde" 1950. But for unknown reasons it was later deleted,and it's mention on the dust jacket was blackened out.
Oscar Wilde (born Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Willis Wilde) was anIrish poet, playwright and novelist.
Notable works include The Picture of Dorian Gray (1891),Salomé (1893), The Importance of Being Earnest (1895).
Born: 1854, Dublin, Ireland; died: 1900, Paris, France.
