The USS Recruit was a 1/2 scale wooden functional battleship “launched” in Union Square on May 30 1917 as part of an effort to increase Navy enlistments during WWI. The ship was actually used to train recruits.

CONDITION: Please check the condition of each item using the photo magnifier; zoom in and enlarge. All cards are original, vintage and/or antique unless otherwise noted. They have normal wear common to all old postcards. Every card is kept sleeved in a smoke-free environment.
