Antique Original 1920s New York City & Area Rare Photo Album - Over 400 Photos Many pages have information written on them to include the location and date. On the first page, it states that the album begins in June 1920, but photo captions indicate that the earliest is from 1918 and the latest date that I can find is 1921. Locations include Brighton Beach, Ellis Island, Brooklyn, Hudson River, Neversink, Far Rockaway, Long Beach, Coney Island, Prospect Park, Rockaway Beach, Central Park, and more. Photos are mostly of people, friends, and family at various locations mentioned above. One of the photos is of Ellis Island Commissioner Frederick Wallis. As you go through the book, you see that the caption information stops, and there is no longer dates and places written on pages. There are approximately 441 Photos altogether, give or take, and two photo negatives. The photos are affixed to the pages. There are over 125 pages. The album itself measures about 7" x 11 3/8". Photos measure from 1 7/8" x 2 7/8" (smallest) to 2 3/4" x 4 3/4" (largest). There are around 10 blank pages in the back of the album. This album is in antique condition and is extremely fragile. The front cover is loose, and there is no back cover. There are additional loose pages in both the front of the album and in the back. There is heavy cracking, discoloration and wear to the front cover. There are stray pieces of tape on the cover and on the binding, where it appears someone tried to tape the front cover on. Note that there is edge chipping, tearing, cracking, missing corners, discoloration, and other wear throughout the book. There are paperclips randomly dispersed throughout as well, and these paperclips are rusted, leaving a mark on photos it touched. Some pages are cracked around the photos, such on the page of Commissioner Frederick Wallis (see photo). There is also an old storage-type scent, which is understandable. Overall, this album needs to be handled with care and should be historically preserved. Please see photos for more information on condition and ask anyquestions you may have. This would be a nice addition to any collection.
