This sale is one (1) pair of new, in the original box, American Optical Original Pilot style sunglasses.Date of Manufacture: January 2022Made at the American Optical factory in Illinois, USA.
Military Specification: Model # AF21611-G52 mm gray lightweight plastic lens140 mm earpiece, gold frames100% UV protection.
Most civilian models curve around the ear, which makes for a secure fit, but makes using them with headsets or flight helmets difficult.These use the straight bayonet style earpiece which can easily be put on or taken off while wearing headgear.The size 52 mm lens are often tight on people with wider faces.
Please use the sizing chart shown in the final photo to decide if these are the right size for you before you decide to purchase them! Many people find this size to be uncomfortably tight.
The lenses are grey-3 light weight plastic.They are NOT glass lenses.They are NOT polarized. Polarized lens work fine in an aircraft using an analog gauge cockpit, but they can make it difficult to view the display on modern \"glass\" cockpit gauges.
The glasses come with a carrying case with a magnetic snap closure, and lens cleaning cloth which shows a blueprint of the original glasses.They come in the original box.
American Optical glasses have been issued to the U.S. military and our allies for decades.The crew of Apollo 11 wore these original aviator style glasses during their historic mission to the moon in 1969.
