This Navajo ceremonial wedding basket is a beautiful piece of handcrafted art. With an impressive 15 points, a diameter of 12 inches, and depth of 2 inches, it represents a right of passage. The inner coils represent birth and as you travel outward, the darker coils represent struggle. Once through the darkness you encounter the red bands representing marriage. Next you find the familial bands showing darkness interspersed with light. Finally you meet all of the light outer bands representing the spirit world where there is no darkness. The line that leads from the center of the basket to the outer rim is a reminder that no matter how much darkness may come into your life there is always a pathway to light. Made by P.H. in the United States in the 1940s, this basket is a true representation of Native American culture.
