All I know about this stone is what can be seen in the photos.

I do not know where it was found. I got it from an estate sale in the Dallas, Texas region.

I obtained this item when I purchased the contents of a kitchen wall in an online estate sale sale. This was tucked in a basket. My first 2 image searches brought up nothing, so I nearly threw it away or put it in my garden. I did a 3rd search in better lighting. This search brought up the paint pots. It does look a lot like those that still have the red inside. So, I\'ve listed it in case a collector is interested. I\'d rather it find it\'s way to someone who can appreciate it for what it is - if it is in fact an artifact.

* * Someone on (a buyer not an employee) prompted me with some questions about if the circle on bottom was natural or oil or something AND if the red would wash off. I had not wanted to wash it, but upon their suggestion I went ahead. I used a drop of Dawn dish soap and a tooth brush and did a quick wash. Most of the red came off and much of the coloring from the outside changed. The ring on bottom stayed pretty similar, so I do not know what it is. Maybe it\'s a stain or maybe it\'s possible I just didn\'t wash it long enough to get it all off.

I don\'t know much about rocks or paint pots or Native American findings despite the many arrowhead hunts my dad took me on. I just wanted to offer this piece up in case a collector would be interested.
