A truly-striking French Napoleon III (19th C.) Period inlaid glove box.
- Appears to be either thuya, or amboyna, burlwood; both having a rich and beautiful grain character.- Fine etched \'bone\' inlay, set in ebonized reserves, frames the burlwood....most beautifully!- Stunning red-silk, button-tufted interior is in wonderful condition.- Slightly domed top
- Measures, overall, 12 1/2\" long x 4 1/8\" deep x 3 1/4\" high.- I don\'t have the key, but, if that is important to you....they tend to be fairly \'simple\' in form, so one could likely be acquired.
- There is a slight gap along the front cover-to-body joint, when closed....quite typical for the age, and, indeed, far less than most, and less than glove boxes much \'younger\'...!
I gave it a polish/treatment with \'Renaissance Wax\', to preserve and fully-present the inherent beauty.
It is remarkable for a piece such as this to be in such fine condition, after 150+ years....and, importantly,the condition conveys the original beauty so truly beautifully.
