This charming French Napoleon III box is made of black ebonized wood with brass appliques and handpainted designs on top and around the key escutcheon. There are decorative appliques applied to the corners of the lid with a center medallion featuring a head and a brass escutcheon and four brass decorative feet. There is a lock but no key. The inside is lined with ed/pink moire silk finished with cording. The overall condition is very good for its age: there are some age related blemishes to the top, no other defects.Measurements are: 8 1/2" by 5 3/4" and 4" tall.
