This interesting eglomise portrait is quite unique. It is the portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte in profile. There is a companion portrait of Madame De Lamballe which has a bookstore label on it from Wendell Holmes Ltd. in London, Ont. This one has a very nice oval portrait with a gold swag around it on a black background. The portrait is a transfer of some sort, as it has the telltale dots.The portrait is housed in a wood and gilt frame with black accents and it has an easel as well as a round hook for hanging. Condition is very good, some slight fading of the gilt surround and there is some tape residue on the back.Measurements are: 3" by 3 3/4" and 1/2" depth.
