Named USMC Jacket Uniform 1st Armored Amphibian Battalion III MAC 5th Marine Div:

Jacob Trupp, born on November 29, 1911 in Odessa, Adams, WA enlisted as a private on April 20, 1941. After training, he was assigned to Co. E, 2nd Bn, 22nd Marines reinforced in the field. After that he spent a little time stateside training with the tank battalions. He shows up with the HQ & Service Co, 1st Armored Amphibian Tractor Battalion, starting from July 1, 1943. He participated in the battle of Roi-Namur. He rose to the rank of Corporal while serving with the same unit which participated in the Battles of Guam and Okinawa. He was sent stateside on USS Griggs (APA-110), a Windsor-class attack transport, on November 1, 1945 and was discharged December 1, 1945. He passed away on August 18th, 1993.

The second name on the uniform, which is crossed out, is William H. O’Neil SR. He was with the 40th replacement draft in January 1945 as a rifleman and then shows up as a part of the 40th replacement draft, 5th division, and then HQ co. 1st Bn., 27th marines in April 1945. John Basilone was in Co. C, 1st Bn, 27th marines during Iwo Jima.
