About this Pipe:

Here’s a rare, hard to find unsmoked Kaywoodie Silhouette #33 Apple made between 1955 and 1972. It has gorgeous deep, craggy sandblast grain in a brown stain with a reddish purple undercoat.

The Silhouette was an upper tier brand that cost twice as much as a standard Kaywoodie, commanding a premium back then. They always had this sandblast grain and a nice, wide metal shank cap. The #33 Apple is one of their most popular shapes and a favorite of mine. Drilling is center and bottom with good airflow and no issues with this pipe. Perhaps only the nomenclature stamping is missing a some letters as is quite common with rustic and sandblast Kaywoodies. They seemed to struggle getting a solid press on the small area. The 33 and other parts show nicely. It was not from wear and I see this on most blasted and rustic Kaywoodie pipes.

The stem is aligned straight and true and the stinger is intact of course.

Kaywoodies have doubled in price to acquire over the last 5 years alone since I started collecting them and they’ll only go higher in my opinion as their quality becomes better known to all pipe smokers.

For this piece, I still put an hour or so into making sure you get a primed and ready to smoke piece. The stem was hand polished to remove any oxidation accumulated over the decades. The metal cleaned and polished as well. The briar was gently cleaned of any dust and carefully buffed with White Diamond to remove any oxidation and bring the stain back as well as leave a nice, shiny finish. Then the pipe received several coats of fresh carnauba wax in thin, stacked layers for a long lasting and durable coat. I applied Obsidian Stem Oil to the ebonite stem with its UV block to slow down future oxidation. While time consuming, I used powdered carnauba wax for this pipe as it will not clog up the crags with wax and gives a far better even spread of wax than a wheel for this finish. Each coat was buffed after a rest. For the stem, I used 2 layers of special that wouldn’t leave streaks or fingerprints as Carnauba can. The pipe finally was hand buffed with a clean microfiber cloth.

My prices reflect the amount of skilled work done to each piece. I hand pick each pipe as well and most are special in one way or another. They are all clean and waxed and in great condition at the absolute minimum.

SHIPPING:

I ship within 1-3 business days or however it is stated. I try to ship the same or next day but sometimes I may have a lot. I take my time to pack items very safely and do not spare expenses when it comes to this. I’ve never had an item arrive damaged. In most cases, I have a poly bag on top to make it rain resistant and a bit more secure. The exception is it the package is larger than standard. I don’t profit off of the shipping fee. My fees are for postage and materials only.

If you’re not 100% happy, please let me know. I’ll do whatever is fair to fix any problems. I accept returns within 1 week of arrival (unless stated as longer) and I can be flexible there. We all have lives. Returns accepted provided that: The item has not been used. It is in exact same condition as the photos in the ad and when I sent it out. Buyer pays shipping for returns unless there is an error on my end in which case I will cover the cost. I almost never get a return. I try hard to not have any surprises and you get what you see or better in person.

Why the Fake Grass? - It helps the pipes stay in position for taking photos actually. It works so well, I’ve not changed to something a bit less funny looking. It stands out too doesn’t it?
