The Saturn V, an iconic American super heavy-lift launch vehicle, was developed by NASA as a pivotal part of the Apollo program for exploring the Moon. This three-stage rocket, powered by liquid fuel, was operational from 1967 to 1973, supporting nine crewed lunar missions and the launch of Skylab, the first American space station.
As of 2023, the Saturn V remains the sole launch vehicle to have carried humans beyond low Earth orbit (LEO). It boasts records for the heaviest payload launched and the largest payload capacity to low Earth orbit, weighing in at 311,152 pounds (141,136 kilograms). This figure includes the third stage and unburned propellant necessary to propel the Apollo command and service module and Lunar Module to the Moon.
The Saturn V, the largest production model within the Saturn rocket family, was designed under the guidance of Wernher von Braun at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Leading contractors included Boeing, North American Aviation, Douglas Aircraft Company, and IBM. In total, 15 flight-capable vehicles were constructed, along with three for ground testing. Notably, all thirteen Saturn V launches from Kennedy Space Center were executed without any loss of crew or payload. This rocket played a pivotal role in launching 24 astronauts on lunar missions, from Apollo 8 in December 1968 to Apollo 17 in December 1972.
This Saturn V 5 model rocket is a remarkable tribute to the achievements of the Apollo program and human exploration of the Moon. Elevate your collection with this stunning piece of space history. Don't miss the opportunity to own this exceptional rocket model.
