Murad cigarettes issued these silks in the early 1900s as collectible premiums to smokers. These tobacco silks measure approximately 3.5 inches wide by 5 inches long. This silk features Georgetown University athlete in a golf swing.

In very small print, the bottom is labeled “MURAD CIGARETTES Factory No. 7 3rd Dist N.Y.”

This series featured young athletes from various universities. Ten different sport images were represented in this set:

Football

Baseball-batting and pitching

Golf

Rowing

Hockey

Then 4 from Track and Field-runner, hammer throw, shot put toss and hurdler

Each silk shows the athlete wearing school colors and has university seal in one corner.
