Condition: NewThe 2023 Moomin’s Day Moomin mug, Sea Breeze, launches on 9th of August 2023 to celebrate Moomin’s Day. This is the third mug in the Moomin’s Day series. The first Moomin’s Day mug was released in 2018 and the second version in 2021. As with the previous versions, this version will also be a limited edition Moomin mug.
The illustration on the Sea Breeze Moomin mug is based on Tove Jansson’s novel Moominpappa at Sea, where the adventurous Moominpappa moves the whole Moomin family away from Moominvalley to the oceanic lighthouse island. The illustrations adapted for the mug also decorated the writing paper Tove Jansson used to reply to her fans. The illustrations are printed beautifully with ink-blue color on a white background. On top of various popular characters from the Moominvalley, the mug shows islet scenery elements such as violets, wild roses and seashells. The adaptation for the mug was created by the recently retired Tove Slotte, and Sea Breeze was her 100th Moomin mug design.
The scenery of the mug also ties to Tove Jansson’s own life and time spent in the Swedish and Finnish archipelago. Her family villa and its surrounding valley provided inspiration to both the Moominhouse and Moominvalley. The Sea Breeze Moomin mug will be delivered with a beautiful gift box with the same atmospheric illustrations as the mug.
