Military Aircraft Hatch - US Navy Grumman S2F1 \"Tracker\" Fuselage Door Assembly:

Grumman S2F1 \"Tracker\" Aircraft Hatch

One Grumman S2F1 door assembly as removed from a scrapped or damaged US Navy \"Tracker.\" If memory serves this is the upper fuselage hatch assembly.

Measures roughly 23 by 24 inches and is complete with piano hinge assembly, door latch and hardware as associated with the door itself. About 9 pounds of door. Still contains one little data plate that provides information about its identity and bears the Grumman p/n of 89B28004

Some info on the Tracker as shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia:

TheGrumman S-2 Tracker(S2Fprior to 1962) was the first purpose-built, single airframeanti-submarine warfare(ASW)aircraftto enter service with theUnited States Navy. Designed and initially built byGrumman, the Tracker was of conventional design— propeller-driven with twin radial engines, a high wing that could be folded for storage on aircraft carriers, and tricycle undercarriage. The type was exported to a number of navies around the world. Introduced in 1952, the Tracker and itsE-1 Tracerderivative saw service in the U.S. Navy until the mid-1970s, and itsC-1 Traderderivative until the mid-1980s, with a few aircraft remaining in service with other air arms into the 21st century.ArgentinaandBrazilare the last countries to still use the Tracker.

Appears to be pretty straight and complete. This one came from the collection of airframe parts as sold in December 2022 at the Marsh Aviation sale in Mesa, AZ. This firm converted the former reciprocating engine airframes to turbine units for California Department of Forestry. The firm had copious amounts of airframe spares at that sale. I do not have the identity of the airframe this unit came from - it was in a bin of spare parts we\'d purchased at the sale.

Interesting piece. A nice souvenir example of the type. No visible corrosion, damage or mods to the door. Latch assembly still functions. Weather stripping a little compromised around the door frame area.

What you see in the photo series is exactly what you get. Ships cheapest via UPS or FedEx Ground, I\'d imagine. Questions? Please ask seller. And thanks for looking!
