(note: the overall condition is excellent, like new. The bottle and label is in great shape, so is the wood box; the cork is broken somehow, see pictures, but still enough is left to put on the famous blend of whiskieswas initially produced by Jameson\'s Master Distiller, Barry Crockett, and has been released in very limited quantities on an annual basis (since 1984).
The whiskey is aged somewhere between 12 and 20 years and matured solely in Bourbon casks. Each bottle is individually numbered and carries the signature of the Master Distiller.
The pre-2000 editions of Midleton Very Rare still contain whiskey distilled at the now closed Old Midleton distillery.
The individual nature of the selection process means that each year’s vintage provides its own unique character. The Midleton Very Rare range is not blended like any other whiskey. The uncompromising ritual and expertise of the Master Distiller leads to subtle but recognizable differences between the years.
Prized amongst whiskey appreciators, there are very few collections of all vintages since the first release in existence.
Tasting Notes
AromaHeavy toffee on the nose, with vanilla and some touches of new leather book. Flashes of green grape and floral notes are suggestive of the grain element, as is the more perfumed lift. Plenty of subtle pot still underneath.
TasteThe palate is amazingly sweet: all Demerara sugar and butter with some clove and cinnamon. Reminiscent of sticky toffee pudding.
FinishThe sweet taste is slow to fade, with the final nod to barley year, 1997, is one of the earliest, before year 2000, to contain whiskey distilled at the now closed Old Midleton distillery, but still bears the signature of the original creator / Master Distiller Barry Crockett before he retired in 2013.
Very RARE indeed.Hard to find another one.
Don\'t miss the opportunity to add it to your collection !
