In 1934, the international Motorsportgoverning body specified a maximum weight for Grand Prix racing cars of 750 kg, excluding tires and fuel. The Germans decided to reduce weight by removing the lead-based paint which denoted its cars’ traditional white livery, exposing distinctive shining aluminum. Victory by one of these leads to the nickname Silver Arrow. Their successors, which were built on the same chassis, continued to race successfully at the Indy 500 after the war.The Mercedes Benz Silver Arrow W 25 model is completely hand-built & handcrafted of recycled polished aluminum and brass. The seat is made of leather. The spoked wheels are aluminum and the tires are made of rubber.The model is packaged in an AM gift box with black & white checkerboard finish flag colors, no gift wrapping required. The gift box will have the German word "Silberpfeil" which translates as Silver Arrow.
