Authentic, Original, Arcade-used (complete with etched graffiti) Mario Brothers (1983) Arcade Marquee signed and doodled on by voice of Mario, Charles Martinet. The Mario Brothers arcade game was where Mario made his third appearance and Luigi made his FIRST APPEARANCE. The marquee is the plexiglass that goes above the monitor of the arcade cabinet and contains the title of the game. Most arcade parts you see today are replicas as the originals were often damagedin the harsh arcade environmentand were later replaced with non-original parts.
Charles Martinet has been the video game voice of Mario since Mario got a voice in video games in the 1990s. He also voices Luigi, Waluigi, and Wario, among others. Until Martinet came along, Mario's accent was a deep Brooklyn accent in the tv shows and 1993 movie. Martinet, at his audition for the role, decided to try a soft Italian accent instead. He felt that was a more appropriate voice for a character that was to appeal to children. And this has been the voice of Mario ever since!
The marquee has Mario phrases, "Woo Hoo!!!" and "Here We Go!!!", in addition to Martinet's fun Mario-moustache signature. It also is signed "Luigi" in green along with "Ho Ho!!". The marquee has been authenticated by JSA and comes with a JSA Certificate of Authenticity as well as a matching certification sticker on the face of the marquee next to the Nintendo logo. However, the photos and video provided in the listing are the best proof that this was actually signed by this legend of video games! Martinet confirmed that this was the first time he ever autographed arcade marquees, so this is a very rare item indeed!
