Original lithograph in black ink on beige wove paper by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. Only state. Plate created 1898; impression from before 1906 or in 1913 (identical paper types and sizes for both printings). Signed in the plate with Lautrec’s monogram (Lugt 1338) upper right. According to Wittrock, Toulouse-Lautrec: The Complete Prints, the plate for this lithograph was developed in 1898 for a portfolio titled Portraits d'Acteurs and d'Actrices: Treize Lithographs. The portfolio was not published until after Lautrec died. This impression was printed before 1906 for the edition of 400 or in 1913 for the edition of 40. Total edition size (1906 and 1913 printings) is 440. References: Wittrock 260, Adriani 268, Adhemar 172.
