Madonna and Child Modern Ceramic Sandstone Finish Tall 14” Catholic Collectible:

This unique large figure of the Madonna and Child is contemporary in style, a hollow ceramic piece with a rough sandstone-like finish. It is a light orange-clay in color, and the surface is finished with tiny subdued flecks of black, white and crystal (which picks up the light but is not at all “gaudy.”) Mary is holding the Baby Jesus in her arms, her face gazing tenderly down at him. Her cloak features graceful modern curves, one foot forward. The Baby is wrapped in a similar covering.

This unusual piece stands 14 inches high, 6 inches wide, and 4 inches deep. There are no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. The piece is substantial, weighing 2 pounds and 4 ounces. There are no markings on the piece. The bottom is unfinished white ceramic, and someone has attached a $5.00 sticker. That was probably a garage sale bargain!
