These handsome GE twin-cab electrics were destined for the
USSR but the sale collapsed when Joseph Stalin showed his
true colors during the Cold War, hence the Milwaukee crews
nick-named them. Joe’s twin-cabs wound up working for the
Milwaukee Road (12 units), the CSS&SB (South Shore)
(3 units), and Paulista (Brazil) (5 units) all electrified lines.
Andy’s art depicts #E-70 leading several Diesels, as EF-4soften did, over densely forested mountains on the line nearAvery, MT, passing East Portal.
