MID 19TH CENTURY NEEDLEPOINT OF A RURAL SCENE WITH DOGS & FIGURES - c.1860:
$445.00

Mid 19th needlepoint - c.1860 or slightly later. Worked in wool on gauze, this needlepoint is just delightful with neat stitch work throughout. The scene is a charming one of a rural landscape with fenced fields edged with tree and hedges and a cloudy blue sky in the distance. There is a red brick house and red brick barn in the upper right side field with a church in the foreground which has a gold cross on top of its spire. The foreground of the needlepoint has a two storey red house with a gated garden, framed by trees with a man, woman and their dog looking over the hedge to the front of their house. There is a young man wearing a red coat resting against a hillock in the front right side whilst his pet dog lies contentedly by his young master\'s feet. The colours of the wool are good, albeit not quite as vibrant as when this piece was originally made. The last photo is of the reverse of the needlepoint and indicates how the colours would have looked when it was first stitched.AS CAN ALSO BE SEEN FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHS, THERE IS NO GLASS OR BACKING BOARD ON THE NEEDLEPOINT.The needlepoint is contained within a mid 19th century mahogany frame with gilt slip, possibly its original. The frame is in good condition with scratches and scuff marks commensurate with its age and a small loss to the veneer on the upper right corner. The slip has age related rubbing and a few old small losses.
Measures 18\" x 13\" (sight size) and 23\" x 18\" including the frame.
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MENTION THAT I HAVE USED A NEW CAMERA TO TAKE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS AND I AM STRUGGLING WITH THE COLOUR BALANCE (something I\'m STILL working on!!) AS SUCH, SOME OF MY PHOTOS HAVE A SLIGHTLY FIERY OR YELLOWISH LOOK TO THEM WHICH IS NOT THE CASE, IT\'S JUST MY INCOMPETENCE!
ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK. ALSO PLEASE CHECK OUT THE OTHER SAMPLERS I\'M SELLING. I AM HAPPY TO COMBINE POSTAGE ON MULTIPLE PURCHASES.PLEASE NOTE - THIS ITEM IS LOCATED IN THE UK BUT CAN BE SHIPPED TO THE LOCATIONS TICKED IN THE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING SECTION.
SHIPPING WILL BE VIA PARCELFORCE - FULLY TRACKED DELIVERY TO THE USA WITHIN FIVE WORKING DAYS.
