This is a vintage 3 layer mola from the 1960s. The central figure is a single jungle bird with a hooked beak. The bird is sourrounded with geometric designs. The design is simple, but very attractive. A very nice mola made by a skilled artist. An excellent example from this early time period.

Length = 42 cm (16+ inches) ; Width = 30 cm (12- inches) ; Weight = 44 gm (1.6 ounces)

The colors on this mola are bright and clean. There is no obvious damage. This mola would display well on a wall if mounted in a frame or sewn into a pillow.

The mola is a rectangular piece of cloth that was made by Kuna [ Cuna ] Indians located in the San Blas Islands on the Atlantic coast of Panama between the Panama Canal and the country of Colombia.

The molas that I sell are from two sources: my family collection (purchased between 1953 and 1974) and from Dean Flora, a Baptist Missionary who spent much time in the San Blas Islands in the 1960s and early 1970s. item = mol37
