Scarce Beautiful late 18th, early 19th century pearlware coffee pot. Baluster shape, with an elegantly formed spout. Original lid, with hole. Blue underglaze transfer in a variation of \"two figures on a bridge\". Brown trim along the edges of the lid, finial. handle and spout opening. The lid and top of the pot are bordered in a grapes and ivy pattern, with an edge of greek key. Ribbed finial. Nine strainer holes that lead to spout. Round raised base with a single blue rule around the outside edge.
In exceptional condition. There is a 1\" non-structural hairline in the inside wall of the lid that fits down inside the pot. There is a firing crack in the finial, non-structural. The lip on the spout has on small shallow chip on the upper portion, and a couple very small rough spots on the lower. Minor wear on the underside of the base, and a little area of crazing. The inside section of the lid has some glaze dripping and unglazed spots. Otherwise no nicks, dings, fleabites or other issues. This all sounds much worse than it is but we mention every little detail as pieces are examined under a bright light/magnifier. Rare piece from the period and early Blue Willow piece. Measurements: 11\" tall, 9\" wide from spout to handle. The widest point of the body is just over 5\". The top opening is 3.5\" across, and the base is 4.5\" across.
