Hi all!
This is a Beautiful Fossil Otodus obliquus Shark Tooth from Morocco! Otodus obliquuswas a huge species of prehistoric shark widely believedto be a direct ancestor to the infamous Megalodon. It lived approximately65 to 45 million years ago and grew to nearly 30 feet (9 meters) in length! It would have fed primarily on large fish and other sharks as well as marine mammals after they evolved. Its teeth are well known for being large and triangular without serrations with large cusps on each side where the enamel meets the root. Over time the teeth would get larger, develop serrations, and the cusps would get smaller and smaller until disappearing while the tooth and shark reached maximum size in Megalodon. A great addition to any fossil collection or gift for aspiring paleontologists, the tooth measures2.29 inches (5.81 cm) along its longest edge with great cusps and tip and no repair, restoration, or alteration! It also has a bent enamel, a unique and noticeable pathology on an already great tooth! A fantastic piece from one of the largest and most terrifying predators to ever live!
