Original ambrotype photo of a painted portrait of an unidentified, possibly important, woman. Housed in its original geometric design 1850s union case.. half-plate size measuring about 6" tall when closed.
The ambrotype has some spotting, but is perfectly visible; the third photo shows how it looks in good lighting.The case is in overall excellent condition. It clicks and stays shut and has no apparent cracks or chips. The only issue, which is easily fixable with glue, is that the velvet pad is loose.
