LOVELY HAND PAINTED NIPPON ART NOUVEAU CREAMER, GREEN WREATH MARK, GOLD, COBALT:

Maker: This beautiful hand-painted creamer is by the renowned Japanese maker Nippon, precursor to the equally renowned Noritake.
Design: Nippon is justifiably famous for its high quality and this creamer is no exception: it is classically designed, rich in detail and superbly crafted, featuring bold and beautifully painted white and cobalt blue flowers against a band of gold.
Age: The green wreath mark with M (for the Morimura brothers, who founded the company around 1876) on the base dates its production to between 1911 and 1921. The style suggests the transition period between Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
Condition: Despite its age, the creamer is in excellent condition with no chips, nicks, scratches, repairs, crazing or discoloration. There is wear to the gold on the handle, light wear on the tip of the spout and upper edge, and embedded dirt at the base of the interior. This is shown in the photos.
Size: The creamer is 4 1/2 inches wide, measured between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle. It is 2 1/2 inches tall, measured at the center. The opening is 2 3/8 inches wide.
