1937 King George VI Coronation Photograph Signed By Dick Merrill, Aviator

Hearst Publishing wanted to beat other newspapers in getting photographs of the coronation of King George VI, so they hired aviators Dick Merrill & Jack Lambie to make the transatlantic flight.

Normally, it would take days to get pictures delivered by ship.

The flight was made and photos were promptly returned and published.

I found online an image of the newspaper page from 1937 that contains the exact same picture: see photos.

This photograph is hand signed by Dick Merrill.
