I bought a counterfeit 1776NBBW to compare. This is what I found. Please note, even in authentic knives, there can be some design variations. As these counterfeits move in they usually get better and better...and often hard to detect. They are easily bought from 3rd party Chinese websites. Soon, the fakes may contain bronze washers if they know that's and easy identifier, but other attributes may still be off. I know basically all the inventory was sold out so very high likelihood of most new blades being sold for cheap are counterfeits.

This is a USA made knife...it really should not be coming from China...that's a pretty good giveaway - this applies more for the people selling on this site. Confirm where your inventory is coming from, are they reputable? Feel free to send me any questions. I bought my stock retail from a local store who buys directly from Kershaw.

Discontinued knife made in the USA. The Kershaw Link in possibly the best color combination. This is a great knife to carry and may be the last chance to pick one up.

Unfortunately because of the popularity of this knife some very good counterfeit knives are out there. They are usually shipped from China which should actually add to the cost if real since it was made in USA. Other key indicators would be relatively new accounts with low response. I ordered one of those $30 specials to see how good they are. Initially seems very good and looks very nice - at first i didn't even think this was a counterfeit. This is what I could tell taking a much closer look without taking the knife apart:

4.80 oz vs 5.60 oz. I weighed my collection of Link knives and they only varied by .05 oz from the factory specification of 4.80 oz for the original.

Upc code on packaging / lacking upc code

Rougher texture scale / replica had smoother texture aluminum scale - but still a very nice finish.

Spacer plastic dull / spacer plastic shiny and shows machining imperfections.

Pocket clip holes only drilled through aluminum scale / clip holes drilled through scale and liner
