I am the original owner and I purchased this knife brand new from one of the major online knife retailers. I’ve been the only owner. This was not an EDC carry knife. This was a knife I used on occasional camping trips and around the house on rare occasions.

At some point in my ownership the main spring that actuates the assist function snapped in half. I have photographed what that looks like and I will be sending it on to the next owner. I recently contacted Kershaw and asked them to send me a replacement spring for the broken one and the replacement spring they sent me does not match the original spring and as far as I can tell, does not fit the knife at all. I don’t have the patience to go back-and-forth with Kershaw to try to understand what kind of spring they sent me and I don’t feel like sending this knife into their warranty system. I just decided I will sell it.

I recently disassembled the knife to clean it out. I cleaned out everything inside and used only some light degreaser. That was when I learned that the main spring had broken in half. After I cleaned the knife out internally, I let it dry for a day and then reassembled it (I did not oil it), AND I did not tighten any of the screws very tight. They are all somewhat loose because I figured that the next owner will want to open it up and fix it for good by putting putting in the correct main spring and oil it with their oil of choice.

It is possible that Kershaw no longer has the original main spring for this knife, which is why they sent me this non-fitting replacement, or it is possible that the non-fitting replacement actually does fit and I just couldn’t figure it out. In any case, you will be receiving the original so you can inspect it and maybe even re-create it yourself, and you will be receiving the replacement spring. All of this is photographed. I know I wrote along description, but it should all make sense when you look at the photos.

The knife has light cosmetic wear to the scales and the blade is in reasonably good condition and was not abused, though it has light hairline marks and light grime. I only sharpened it a handful of times. Please look at all of the photos closely, I tried to capture every angle I could. This knife has June 06 date stamp.

I do not have the original box anymore.
