Marvel Comics (1981-1984) Complete Series

Kevin Plunder, also known as Ka-Zar, is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in The X-Men #10 (March 1965). Kevin Plunder is the second character to use the codename Ka-Zar. Like Tarzan, that other great jungle-man, Ka-Zar was once a creature of civilization. Lord Kevin Plunder’s father had been a scientist and explorer who discovered the Savage Land - a strange jungle oasis in the heart of the Antarctic. In the Savage Land, his father had discovered a substance known as anti-metal. When outside forces tried to wrest its secrets from him, he sought refuge with his son in the Savage Land. Instead, he was killed by a group of man-apes who were hunting a giant sabre-tooth tiger. The sabre-tooth, a giant cat named Zabu, used that moment to turn on his attackers, slaying them. The tiger formed an attachment to the now-orphaned boy, and watched over him. The boy then grew up to be Ka-Zar, Lord of the Savage Land.
