This original set of the FLINTSTONES \"ARE NOT A LIMITED EDITION\" These were made and owned by Kent Melton.
As per Kent Melton:
Hanna-Barbera had never hired a full time staff sculptor before I worked there so they weren\'t really sure how they were going to make use of me. Sometimes I\'d sculpt figures or make elaborate props for network pitches. One time I even fabricated a radio controlled Wacky Races picnic basket car with Yogi and Boo-Boo behind the wheel. It proved to be quit a sensation at the meeting when HB\'s pitchman made it pull a wheelie and drove it careening across the desktop straight for the network executives. As they dove for safety Yogi\'s racer shattered into an impressive explosion of colorfully painted pieces on the floor. On the bright side HB did ultimately manage to sell the show.
To keep me busy in between pitches they had me get model sheets from the archives and sculpt their iconic characters. For me it was pure nostalgia.
When I was a kid my parents would let me stay up until 8:30 to watch the first primetime cartoon The Flintstones. I was always extra careful to be at my best behavior on the days prior to Friday. I could easily imagine the horror of banishment from the TV and the nightmare of being exiled to bed... only to listen as my brothers in the next room enjoyed the show. A fate that I would somehow manage to avoid in spite of the odds.Provenance: Kent Melton Dolgoff Collection.
As per Kent himself: \"Meeting and working with some of Walt\'s \"Nine Old Men\" while sculpting for

Walt Disney Classics Collection was extremely educational for me. As you probably already know,

those guys literally wrote the book on feature animation. The artist that most inspired me was Marc Davis.

He was a soft spoken Renaissance man. A master of design, drawing, painting, sculpture, storytelling,

and basically everything else he ever put his creative mind to. I can truly understand

why Walt valued him so highly on so many of his various projects.

As I steadily sculpted my way through the list of his characters at WDCC I met with Marc at his home/studio

to get his insight on each piece. I remember the time I was showing him my sculpture of Snow White

for his notes when he called his wife Alice in to take a look. She pointed out that Snow White

wore a wool dress and that I\'d put too many fine wrinkles in the drapery making it look more as if it were made of cotton.

Where else could you ever get that kind of invaluable information? That was the day I found out that Alice

was not only a very talented artist but she\'d also worked on costuming the actors for the live action

reference on Snow White. Thankfully, It was just impossible to visit them without learning something new.\"

(Please note: There is a small smudge on the left side of Dino\'s nose, the left side of Pebblesforehead and the left side of Wilmas face by the hairline)
