This glossy blue on white collector\'s plate celebrates \"The Earthly Pilgrimage of Abraham Lincoln\" with a large center portrait surrounded by historical locations and monuments of the 16th president of the US. The smooth rim is decorated with log fencing designs, his signature, BD and DD, along with many of his monikers.
It measures 9 7/8\" in diameter with 1\" high sides. It weighs 1 lb 2 oz.
Condition is very good with no chips, cracks, or crazing with only a few scuffs. I estimate it was crafted in the 1960s.The backstamp reads \"Old English Staffordshire Ware, Jonroth (with JR & C logo), Made in Staffordshire England\". Also printed on the underside is Lincoln\'s 1861 Farewell Address to the people of Springfield, Illinois.
John H. Roth & Co was an active importer of Staffordshire pottery into the US, with William Adams & Sons as the principle supplier until the late 1960s.
