Description

Mike Machat\'s jet artistic researchincluded flight experiences in numerous \'exotic\' aircraft types.Mike has flown with NASA, the Blue Angels, and the USAF Test Pilot School, and was the first Air Force Artist to fly in the Rockwell B-1B Lancer and Grumman F-14 Tomcat in a U.S. Navy exchange program.

Here are a few words about this fine art Limited Edition Print by Mike Machat:

\"The plane types of the Boeing X-32 & Lockheed Martin X-35 were designed to combine several different tactical missions into one advanced aircraft, the Joint Strike Fighter, which will fly as an attack fighter for the U.S. Air Force, a carrier-based attack jet for the U.S. Navy, and a short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) attack aircraft for the U.S. Marine Corps.

Replacing aircraft like the A-10 and AV-8B Harrier, the newly-named F-35 Lightning II will also be flown by U.S. allies such as Great Britain and Australia. In 2001, Lockheed Martin\'s X-35 won a fly-off competition beating Boeing\'s X-32 JSF demonstrator and both of these aircraft are represented in this historic lithograph which is personallysigned by all 13 JSF test pilots assigned to the evaluation program.\"

TheTest Pilot Counter Signersthat were part of the\'JSF\'program are:

All Aircraft begin their production \'Life\' in a \'Test Flight-Test Pilot\' Program. The Lockheed-Martin X-35 [F-35] and the Boeing X-32 beginnings were more difficult with the Joint Strike Fighter\'fly-off\'competition as a requirement.

TheLockheed-Martin X-35wonand became the \'F-35ALightningII\' which is the JET the:

  • Royal Air Force [RAF],
  • Royal Navy [RN] and
  • The Royal Australian Air Force [RAAF]
have acquired, inaddition to the USAF F-35Lightningsquadrons.

This beautifulJoint Strike Fighter [JSF]Lockheed \'X-35\' [F-35] and Boeing \'X-32\'-Artist Proof Print [A/P]captures all the vivid color and brilliance of the original Mike Machat work of art.

Mission Profile(source Wikipedia and RAAF)

The Royal Air Force and Royal Navyplan to operate 138 F-35Bshort takeoff/vertical landing aircraft. Their training will take place at MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina, where British pilots and maintainers will be embedded with the U.S. Marine Corps and their fleet of F-35Bs.

The United Kingdom has played an integral role on the Joint Strike Fighter since the program’s earliest days. Even before a final aircraft concept was chosen, British engineers and test pilots were making their mark on what would become a revolutionary capability. Under the desert sky at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., a British test pilot left onlookers awestruck as he took the X-35B prototype out for its first flight on June 23, 2001.

TheLightning IIwill be the backbone of Britain’s future carrier operations. As the first supersonic short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) fighter jet, the F-35B will provide vital 5th Generation carrier-strike capabilities to the Royal Navy’s two new carriers – theHMS Queen Elizabeth(christened July 4, 2014) andHMS Prince of Wales. These new Queen Elizabeth Class Carriers are designed specifically for integration with the F-35B aircraft, including a ski jump ramp for short takeoffs in place of the traditional catapult launch. The F-35B also has the ability to operate from land bases and remote locations, providing versatility that will revolutionize the U.K.’s expeditionary combat power.

TheLockheed Martin F-35 Lightning IIis a family of single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole fighters. The fifth-generation combat aircraft is designed to perform ground attack and air superiority missions. It has three main models: the F-35A conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) variant, the F-35B short take-off and vertical-landing (STOVL) variant, and the F-35C carrier-based Catapult Assisted Take-Off But Arrested Recovery (CATOBAR) variant. On 31 July 2015, the United States Marines declared ready for deployment the first squadron of F-35B fighters. On 2 August 2016, the U.S. Air Force declared its first squadron of F-35A fighters combat-ready.

The F-35 descends from the X-35, the winning design of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program. An aerospace industry team led by Lockheed Martin designed and manufactures it. Other major F-35 industry partners include Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney andBAE Systems. The F-35 first flew on 15 December 2006. The United States plans to buy 2,663 aircraft. Its variants are to provide the bulk of the crewed tactical airpower of the U.S. Air Force, Navy and the Marine Corps over the coming decades. Deliveries of the F-35 for the U.S. military are scheduled until 2037 with a projected service life up to 2070.

Collectors\' Hints(Space and Aviation Firsts© 2017-2023).

Collectors\' Hint 1 - What is an\'Artist Proof\'Limited Edition Print?

\'Artist Proofs\'is a special early subset of the regular limited edition, limited to the first 10% of the print run. An‘Artist Proof’is just that, an‘Artist Proof’and may or may not be numbered at the discretion of the Artist. They therefore usually sell for 20-50% more than the regular edition print.

The\'Artist Proofs\'are the first prints pulled off a fresh \"stone\", the plate which was drawn or etched by theartistto create the Limited Edition Canvas Prints.

A really serious Collector usually prefers the\'Artists Proof\'if one can be obtained, because of the extra value they represent and the status they have in the market and as an investment.

Premium Art-Limited Edition Printsutilising theLithographicprintingtechnique for very high quality provides\'Stand Out Impressiveness\' upon your Wall.
