Japan Tea Set Vintage Teapot & 5 Cups Nerikomi Neriage Agateware Swirl Pottery

This is a vintage Japanese tea set with tea pot and 5 cups created in \"Nerikomi\" or \"Neriage technique. The English call the technique \"agateware\" as the swirling clays look like agate stone. Nerikomi is an artistic technique for creating Japanese pottery and derives from the traditional technique of creating patterns with colored clay. Slabs of different clays or colored clays are stacked, folded, pressed and sliced to form vessels. The insides of the cups in this set exhibit the unique look of the process. Each cup is unique with its own swirling mixture of clays. This is not a design created in the glazing. The outsides of the cups and teapot are hand painted in green and beige colors. The teapot has handle on side and lid has knob. The teapot measures 5\" tall x 5 1/2\" diameter and is 7\" across at handle. It does not exhibit the Neriage technique but matches the cups. The cups are 3 5/8\" diameter x 2 1/2\" tall. The set is good order and likely dates to the 1970\'s but I don\'t know for sure. One cup has a small chip on underside of pedestal foot. See my photo where I am pointing to this. I don\'t see any other chips or cracks. The spout end has what I think is a rough area from glaze but could be fine chip. Not major in any case. The set is not signed by a maker. This is a pre-owned vintage item in functional condition.My photos are of the actual item you are getting.
