James Monroe [1758 1831] was an American statesman, lawyer, diplomat and Founding Father who served as the 5th president of the United States from 1817 to 1825. Listed for sale is a beautiful display which contains a [DS] document signed by James Monroe. The document is a partly printed vellum signed as president. The document is a land grant to a Robert Lindsay of Milledgeville for a tract of land containing five hundred ninety-five acres. The document is dated February 26, 1823, and is boldly signed ''James Monroe'' in black ink. The autograph has been authenticated by PSA Authentication Services and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. The document measures 15.50 x 9.75 inches, it has light wrinkling/soiling, expected fold marks and still has its paper seal affixed to the lower left corner. Overall in very good condition and it displays very nicely. The display is centered around a wonderful color portrait of President James Monroe which measures 6.00 x 5.00 inches. Mounted below is a professionally engraved metal plaque which reads as follows, ''5th President of the United States of America. James Monroe April 28, 1858 - July 4, 1831. In Office March 4, 1817 - March 4, 1825.'' The display has been professionally assembled with all acid free materials with great attention to details as follows. The photograph, document and plaque have been double matted with a black suede outer matte and accented with a gold inner matte. The display has been completed in a quality ornate gold wood frame to the dimensions of 26.00 x 16.00 inches. The document is authentic, a desirable example of our 5th President and the display is stunning. Absolutely no disappointments or simply return.
