My name is Nick and I have been a Southern California based Titanic historian and private collector for nearly 20 years. From my personal collection of Titanic artifacts and memorabilia, I am proud to offer this opportunity to own an incredibly rare and beautiful piece of James Cameron\'s 1997 Titanic film set. My collection consists primarily of historic artifacts relating to RMS Titanic, but this lovely window is one of the few props from the film that I own. Here is the complete story of this amazing piece.
This first class lounge window is an example of only a small few that were built for the film, and these windows appear on screen at approximately 1:50:16 while sharing the screen with actor Victor Garber. During filming, there were many budget constraints which did not allow a complete first class lounge to be created. For many shots, the first class lounge appearance with achieved with a mini-model and the actors superimposed in. However, one side of the room was built for Victor Garber\'s scene at approximately 1:50:16 which feature these 1:1 scale windows.
This window was recovered directly from the film site in Rosarito, Mexico after production had completed. Many props and objects used in the film were left behind and exposed to the elements. This window was eventually acquired by DC Collectibles and sat in storage for many years. DC Collectibles is a highly reputable and well known vendor of Titanic 1997 film props since 1999. We have personally seen their storage facility, which is full of props from this amazing film, all aged and in different states of condition. I finally managed to purchase this window, however it was in an advanced state of decay from years and years of neglect. The only element that was nearly perfect on this piece was the glass.
This window was in such a severe state of decay we could not move it without the frame breaking apart. The more we tried to move this piece, the more we put the glass at risk of breaking and shattering. The only way we could save this piece was to repair the original frame one section at a time. Over the span of 70 hours, we carefully applied a process that involved the use of construction adhesive, sanding, and paint matching in an effort to preserve this window for future generations to enjoy. The glass has been gently cleaned and polished and shines like new.
This is a complete window assembly featuring front glass and rear glass elements. After 27 years, both glass elements are nearly pristine with no cracks or serious issues. Very minor surface scuffs are present, and are extremely difficult to photograph.
This window is enormous. It measures approximately 65\" x 41.5\" x 6.5\".
I am including a framed COA with my contact information and signature, as well as 4x6 photos of this window before and after restoration.
