Up for sale is this antique advertising tray for Jersey Creme soda, "The Perfect Drink." Please excuse any glare in the photos. This tray has colorful lithography depicting a beautiful woman in Edwardian-style dress. The back side is black. The tray has a diameter of approximately 12 inches and a height of 5/8 inch. Unpacked, it weighs 8.9 ounces. Someone affixed a sawtooth metal picture hanger to the back side, as shown. This would be a good addition to a collection of antique advertising.Identification
This tray is antique, and the exact age is not known. It advertises Jersey-Creme soda, the perfect drink, which was available at fountains and in bottles. Tiny print at the bottom says, "Chas. W. Shonk Co. Litho Chicago No. F2799."This is from a northern California estate collection of advertising and Americana.
Condition
This item looks good overall, as shown. The decorated side has some scratches, scrapes, crazing/crackling, and minor finish losses, as shown. There are some minor, shallow dents. There are two holes near the top edge for hanging, but someone also affixed a metal hanging mechanism to the back side, as shown. The back has some paint wear, and the metal beneath is oxidized in those areas. There is a round sticker mark from an old price tag.
