Lovely antique, signed, framed J. Carleton Bicknell hand-colored photograph of flowering trees and split rail fence along a sandy road, early 20th century, titled \"Apple Blossoms.\" Bicknell was a contemporary of Wallace Nutting; he worked mostly in Maine, producing platinum prints of nature scenes that were hand colored as well as postcards, calendars, and similar ephemera.The picture has excellent color and is crisp and clean. It measures 8 x 11 inches framed. The frame appears to be be original, and is in excellent shape; I do not see any marks on it. The mat is an even beige color and mostly clean, but does have scattered small light brown spots of foxing (I have pointed to the four most noticeable in the close-up photo - see blue arrows). New dust jacket on the back in the mid-1990s.I have tried to find and describe any flaws, but please check the photos carefully.
