You are offerding on Italian Model 1871/87/16 Bayonet with Black Leather Scabbard. Bayonet has the serial # D 8303 stamped on the cross guard. Bayonet started life as VV70 series bayonet probably made late in WWI that was modified. The blade was shortened to nine inches and the hooked quillon removed. It features a bright blade and long spring. All Italian manufacturing markings were removed. The scabbard has been modified with a bronze metal throat piece that has the Spanish style frog stud. The Italian Fascist Government gave these to Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Most were never used.
