This woman looks intently at something in the distance. Her high collar echoes the curled bangs of her hairstyle. She wears a collar pin in the ruffled collar.
Imprinted under photo, on wither side of \"Werts,\" are:\"Iowa City.\" and \"Iowa.\"
On reverse is a print of the Landing of Columbus.I believe this photographer is likely Perry Daniel Werts (1859-1952), who had his studio in Iowa City for years.
Card measures about 6.5 x 4.25 inches, photo is about 5.5 x 3.875 inches and portrait vignette is about 2.75 x 2.5 inches. Soiling to image and card. Edge wear to card. Pinholes in top and bottom.My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn\'t able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it\'s a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please check out my other listings.
