The Wessels Mine is one of the premier localities in the Kalahari Manganese Field. This famed mine has produced some of the finest Inesite specimens extant.
This miniature size Inesite is a great example of the superb specimens that the Wessel Mine has yielded, filled with dozens of distinct, sharp, orange-red bladed crystals forming “rosette”-esque crystal aggregates, free of matrix. No major damage, outside of the periphery where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. The largest crystal measures about 6 mm long.
