This Indian Wars Campaign Medal, MNo 308, is a rare and significant piece of militaria that will enhance any collection. With its origins in the United States and representing the conflicts of the Indian Wars from 1866-1897, this original medal is a true piece of history. The medal's design and craftsmanship are exceptional, and it is a remarkable representation of bravery and service. Issued to Seargent Major Ernest Von Lorens, Troop K, 8th Cavalry. He participated in the Apache Campaign. And later was the commander of the Minnnesota department, ''National Indian War Veterans''. Included are his records from the National Archives. There were 2000 No Medals struck by the Mint. But there was a high demand for a campaign medal. And so, the mint struck more medals. They started with MNo 1, and did not record to whom they were given. But MNo 308 is documented as belonging to Ernest Von Lorens. And he is pictured wearing the medal with w/an 8 above the crossed sabers. And he is wearing the lapel pin in a different picture. Also he has been identified by his family heirs as donating the Medal to a Historical Society.
