This is a fantastic leather travel stationery attache designed for writing. Very ergonomic, compact and organized with side compartments and central hard board writing surface. High level of craftsmanship in the leather work with a beautiful bright brass Bramah of London lock hardware. Unfortunately there is no key. Likely dates from around the 1860s. This was a luxury item in its day with hand made quality and details throughout. Marked De La Rue & Co, this firm was established as printers in the early 19th century and still operate today having the distinction of being the ‘world’s largest commercial printers’. Good condition with light surface wear and signs of use. Please review photos for further assessment. Measures closed 9 inches wide, 7.25 inches high, 0.50 inch deep. The length is 17.5 inches when fully opened. This makes a great decorator piece for a desk or shelf and could also be used as originally intended.Check out my other antique listings.
