Measures 1 3/4” wide by 1 3/4” tall.The front shows a King’s crown on the upper arm of the Maltese cross with a ‘W’ in the center.The lower arm is dated ‘1870’.The reverse side is maker marked ‘GODET’.Has a wide vertical ‘T’ bar style pin back with a ‘c’ catch on the reverse side.Also has two round vertical prongs on each side of the Iron Cross on the back for attaching to the tunic breast.Three-piece construction with an iron magnetic center.A scarce variation.This was awarded for gallantry in combat action during the Franco Prussian War from 1870 thru 1871.RARE.
